A striking 1970s design by Tura, this vintage frame features an oversized, softly squared silhouette with gently rounded corners and a sculptural geometric bridge. The pale frame is accented by subtle layered detailing along the temples, giving the design a refined architectural quality characteristic of statement eyewear from the era. The original blue gradient lenses transition from a deep blue upper tone to a lighter finish below, adding depth while preserving the frame’s authentic vintage character. Frame Model: TL 368 (C) Decade: 1970s Country of Origin: Japan Lenses: Original blue gradient lenses Condition: Good vintage, wear at interior near nose Measurements: 52-20-140 Historical Context Founded in New York in 1938 by Monroe B. Levoy, Tura became an early pioneer in treating eyewear as a fashion accessory rather than simply an optical necessity. The company introduced innovations such as the Coloratura collection in 1949, combining frames with fashion colours, and later became the first eyewear company to establish a designer licensing partnership with Christian Dior in 1966. Tura’s design language developed around jewellery-inspired detailing, expressive colour, sculptural forms, and ornate finishes, with collections incorporating gold filigree, rhinestones, pearls, and other decorative elements.
