Frame Model: MO52102 Decade: 2000s Country of Origin: Italy Lenses: Original grey gradient lenses Condition: Deadstock Measurements: 136-00-120 Historical Context Founded in Milan in 1983 by Franco Moschino, the Italian fashion house quickly established a distinctive identity through irony, humour and a playful reinterpretation of traditional fashion codes. Influenced by his background in art and illustration, Moschino combined bold colour, graphic motifs and unexpected references, often drawing on Pop Art, Surrealism and the visual language of everyday life. Moschino eyewear was already being produced in Italy by Persol Ratti during the 1980s, with surviving frames from the period reflecting the house’s expressive approach through sculptural shapes, bold colour combinations and distinctive decorative details. The early eyewear closely followed the irreverent character of the fashion collections, incorporating recurring Moschino motifs such as hearts, geometric forms and playful ornamentation into collectible Italian-made frames.
