The Spectron 3 reflects Julbo's technical approach to eyewear, with a broad black frame, angular lens profile, and substantial wraparound construction. Produced in France during the 2010s, this deadstock example retains its original black lenses and remains exceptionally well preserved. Frame Model: Spectron 3 Decade: 2010s Country of Origin: France Lenses: Original black lenses Condition: Deadstock Measurements: 54-20-135 Historical Context Founded in 1888 in Morez, in France’s Jura Mountains, Julbo began as an optical eyewear maker founded by Jules Beaud. In the early 20th century, the company developed its first Cristalliers glasses at the request of Chamonix crystal hunters who needed protection from intense mountain light, marking the beginning of its sun-eyewear history. In 1950, Julbo introduced the Vermont, a purpose-built glacier sunglass that became closely associated with the golden age of mountaineering. During the 1980s, Julbo brought brighter colours and more expressive versions of its glacier frames to the growing ski and outdoor market, broadening the visual character of its eyewear.
