Frame Model: Sole Mio Decade: 1990s Country of Origin: Italy Lenses: Original black lenses, minor scratch Condition: Great vintage. Measurements: Unknown Historical Context Founded in 1954 in Rio Saliceto, Italy, by Giorgio Nannini, the company began by designing and producing motorcycle goggles, drawing on the country’s developing tradition of specialist eyewear manufacturing. In 1956, Nannini introduced its first range of motorcycle eyewear and also began producing metal frames, marking its early expansion into broader eyewear production. The company later introduced injected frames in 1963, expanding its use of modern materials and developing more innovative and performance-oriented designs. Its approach has remained rooted in Italian craftsmanship, with attention to materials, technical development, design, and increasingly integrated Made in Italy production. Nannini’s early history is particularly notable for its transition from specialist motorcycle goggles to a broader eyewear manufacturer, establishing a foundation for the company’s later presence in the Italian and international eyewear market.
