The Fratelli Lozza frame captures the bold, sculptural character of Italian eyewear design from the 1980s. Its oversized rounded silhouette features softly curved contours and a distinctive, gently raised brow line, creating a dramatic yet balanced profile. The rich tortoiseshell-toned acetate adds depth and warmth, with subtle variations in color that highlight the frame's dimensional construction. The broad lenses are fitted with new brown gradient lenses, transitioning from a deeper tone at the top to a lighter shade below. After developing machinery for celluloid frame production, the brothers formally established Fratelli Lozza in 1920 as a factory specialising in celluloid eyewear, responding to the growing demand for lightweight plastic frames and sunglasses. Its designs reflected the period’s transition from traditional materials toward moulded plastics, combining practical construction with increasingly expressive forms suited to the evolving fashion of the early 20th century.
